
![]() Proposed Power Station at Derrygreenagh: Bord na Mona Applies for Planning PermissionBord na Mona has applied for Planning Permission to construct a new Power Station on the site of its existing Works facilities at Derrygreenagh, Co. Offaly. The proposed Power Station will consist of two units: a flexible combined cycle gas turbine unit of c. 430 megawatts, for normal operation, together with a reserve/peaking open cycle gas turbine unit of c. 170 megawatts, to be used as a peaking plant. The application for planning consent has been submitted to An Bord Pleanála, as the project has been deemed to be ‘Strategic Infrastructure’ under Section 37(E) of the Planning and Development Act 2000, as amended. The application has been accompanied by a comprehensive Environmental Impact Statement (EIS). The planning application and the EIS may be inspected free of charge at the following locations: * The offices of An Bord Pleanála, 64, Marlborough Street, Dublin 1; * The offices of Offaly County Council, Aras an Chontae, Charleville Road, Tullamore, Co. Offaly; * The offices of Bord na Móna, Derrygreenagh, Rochfortbridge, Co. Westmeath.
