Composting
Kilberry composting facility was opened in 2005 and uses windrow composting to
treat a range of organic materials. After composting the material is
incorporated into horticultural products which are packaged on the site.
Suitable Materials
The facility is licensed by the Environmental Protection Agency to
accept a range of organic materials. These include:
-
Green Waste
• By-Product from wood processing
• By-Product from brewing, malting and distilling industries
• Fruit and vegetables
• Clean wood fibre and wood pulp
• Botanical waste
• Landscapers waste
Location
The facility is located on the Monasterevin to Athy Road (R417)
approximately 8km from Monasterevin. Road improvements in the area, notably
the upgrading of the N7 have facilitated easy access to the facility from the
surrounding region. Kilberry is approximately one hour from the M50.
