Minister Visits Bord Na Mona display at Kildare Growers Show
Trevor Sargent, Minister for State for Food and Horticulture, joined us
on our Stand at the Kildare Growers Show last Thursday. Trevor is an avid
gardener and was very encouraged by the increased and continuing use by Bord
Na Mona of Green Waste compost as a peat diluent for the UK Market. Bord Na
Mona has the largest green waste composting facility in Ireland at Kilberry,
Co Kildare. The minister encouraged all attending to grow more fruit and
vegetables and to consider import substitution as a potential revenue stream
for the future. The minister listed dozens of fruit and vegetables that are
imported into this market that could easily be grown here.
