The Offshore and FlexTech Manager will lead a team in the Commercial function ensuring the successful development of key renewable and flexible technology projects in our development pipeline which will include offshore wind, storage, low carbon inertia solutions, hydrogen/e-fuels and other emerging technologies which address system needs or the needs of our customers.
The role will focus on the commercial development phase of the projects, fostering partnerships, early development activity, securing a route to market and driving the projects to financial close. The successful candidate will oversee the development strategy and contract negotiation for the projects, manage joint venture activities and relationships, ensure governance and reporting requirements are achieved, and help deliver on the organisation’s strategy.
The main duties and responsibilities of the role will include the following:
- Drive the commercial development of the Offshore and FlexTech projects in our pipeline ensuring robust and comprehensive programmes for delivery. Monitor and control project development performance across all dimensions – time, cost, quality, scope and risk.
- Oversee BnM’s participation in route to market auctions/tenders and ensure comprehensive bid preparation programmes and governance requirements are met. Ensure our technology designs are aligned with the future system needs or the needs of our customers.
- Manage contractual negotiations to ensure optimum outcomes for the business and ensure timely completion and execution of contracts and agreements to meet the company’s strategy and objectives. Liaise and work internally with the BnM legal department to drive contractual workstreams to successful conclusion.
- Monitor development and capital expenditure against budgets and forecasts, ensuring efficient use of resources and timely identification of variances. Ensure alignment between project delivery schedules, resource needs, and procurement strategies.
- Mentor and develop a team of project management and technology professionals, fostering a culture of innovation and high performance. Lead cross-departmental projects and initiatives to drive alignment and achieve business goals.
- Facilitate knowledge sharing and professional development within the team to enhance expertise.

- Proactively participate in the Performance Management process to ensure delivery of own, and the wider team’s objectives.
The Person:
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualification, skills, knowledge and attributes:
- Third-level degree in Engineering, Business, Project Management, or a related discipline
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in energy or large-scale infrastructure projects
- Proven track record managing large-scale projects and taking project/process ownership
- Strong technical understanding of electricity transmission grid planning, development, and operation
- Familiarity with regulatory, grid, and planning frameworks relevant to energy infrastructure in Ireland
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage stakeholder relationships, and deliver projects in complex, multi-stakeholder environments
- Experience collaborating with key stakeholders and regulatory bodies
- Professional project management certification (e.g., PMP or equivalent) is desirable
- Strong commercial acumen including budget control, procurement, contract management and negotiation, and resource optimisation
- Highly adaptable and innovative with strong problem-solving skills
- Experience in Renewable Energy, Power Generation, Technology, or Grid Infrastructure sectors
- Postgraduate qualification in Engineering, Management, or Commercial disciplines is advantageous
