BnM awards €64,000 to local communities through Bruckana Wind Farm community gains and near neighbour schemes

  • €54,600 awarded to 16 local community groups, and a further €9,400 in near neighbour supports to be provided to local residents in Kilkenny and Tipperary

BnM has awarded €64,000 in total to local community groups and residents through the 2025 Bruckana Wind Farm Community Gain and Near Neighbour schemes. This includes €54,600 distributed to 16 community groups working across education, charity, sports, sustainability and community amenities. Additionally, €9,400 has also been allocated for near neighbour supports for local residents.

This funding forms part of BnM’s broader commitment to ensuring that the delivery of renewable energy infrastructure creates lasting value for the communities in which it operates. Community investment is a central pillar of BnM’s 5GW renewable energy pipeline, which is directly supporting Ireland’s National Development Plan.

Community organisations that received funding through the 2025 Bruckana Community Gain Scheme include Crosspatrick Hall, the Moyne Athletics Club and North Kilkenny Community First Responders. In addition to the funding provided under the terms of the community gain scheme, BnM also agreed to fund four strategic projects on a multi annual bases over the next four years, totalling €49,300.

BnM established the Bruckana Community Gain Scheme in 2014 in cooperation with local communities in Kilkenny and Tipperary in proximity to Bruckana Wind Farm. This has grown from €42,000 in its first year of operation in 2014, to €54,600 in 2025.

Applications for the Bruckana Community Gain Scheme are assessed by a committee comprised of members of the local communities of Crosspatrick, Moyne and Templetuohy. The Community Gain funding has benefited local schools, sports clubs, general amenity, social initiatives, as well as community facilities.

John Reilly, Head of Renewable Energy at BnM, added:

BnM’s renewable energy projects directly contribute to Ireland’s energy independence as part of the National Development Plan. Our renewable infrastructure projects are delivering clean, secure energy to the national grid while creating long-term value for the regions in which we operate. The Bruckana Wind Farm Community Gain and Near Neighbour Schemes reflect this approach, ensuring that investment in renewable infrastructure also delivers tangible benefits and opportunities for local communities, while supporting Ireland’s wider economic and environmental goals.”

Alison Tilley, BnM Corporate Social Responsibility Manager said,

BnM is delighted to announce the allocation of funding to 16 local projects as part of the Bruckana Wind Farm Community Gain Scheme. Additionally, our Near Neighbour Scheme continues to provide support to members of the local community.

BnM is incredibly proud to work with and support the local communities where we operate, and we would like to thank everyone who took the time to submit an application for funding through this year’s Community Gain Scheme.”
